Summer at Social City is in full swing! We’ve had the opportunity to meet new friends and learn about each other’s interests. Additionally, through engaging games, role-play and motivating activities we’ve targeted important social skills; including how to appropriately use greetings, initiating and maintaining conversations, making impressions, taking others' perspectives and understanding what the term friendship means as well as why having friends is important. These skills are valuable in making and developing long-lasting friendships!
Creative movement activities, such as yoga, freeze dance and twister are incorporated into every class to assist the children with self-regulation, while collaborative creative art projects allow us the opportunity to work together and use our imaginations. During centers, the students enjoy the opportunity to break up into smaller groups and play games which reinforce the lesson of the day. We make sure to review good sportsmanship skills and strategies for playing fairly.
The kids are having a blast and we are looking forward to another successful summer at Social City!
